Reflection of our current society
After another visit to the Mausbach (Stolberg) war cemetery by the boss Thomas Schlee of Alfashirt, he was shocked by the loveless and neglected condition of the grave complex.
Fallen soldiers from the First and Second World Wars rest there in peace. We then immediately decided to launch an action on site to restore these war graves to a dignified state two weeks later.
After intensive organization, the time had finally come on Saturday, October 22nd, 2022. Almost 50 volunteers of all ages arrived, willing and happy to give this grave complex more respect and dignity.
Most of the material and organization was handled by Alfashirt.
Many thanks again to the florists from “Blütentraum” from Stolberg-Breinig, who supported us with the Erika plants and gave us a generous discount.
Thanks also to the Leo bakery in Gressenich, which also gave us a discount on the more than 100 rolls.
The girls from Alfashirt were there to help us with our physical well-being. They provided everyone with sandwiches, hot coffee, cold drinks and chocolate to keep us ready for action.
The weather was also very kind to us that day, so we were able to get started right away. There was a lot to do.
The entire color of the inscription on the gravestones had faded or was no longer there.
It was very laborious to restore the original color. This would not have been possible without our numerous helpers! Respect and deep, wistful thanks to all the volunteers who sacrificed several hours on a Saturday, regardless of their free time.
Special thanks to those who were not put off by even several hours of travel from helping out. Everyone from young to old got involved. Even primary school children were there and did a good job.
The site was cleared of garbage and graffiti. The green area was cut back and redesigned with beautiful heather plants, so that the grave was restored to an honorable state.

After about 7 hours of hard work, it was finally done.
One of the most moving moments of the day was when an elderly lady visited the grave of one of her relatives. She burst into tears out of gratitude, as she had not seen the cemetery in its current splendor for a long time thanks to all the efforts of the helpers.
This moment alone, this gratitude, this warmth of this elderly lady, this alone was worth it. We hope that the facility will remain in a well-kept condition for future generations.
Also as a memorial for peace among nations.

This campaign has made us very positive, especially the huge positive response from fans on social media - whether from the region or from far away.
This maintenance campaign will definitely be repeated several times in the coming year - to honor the resting places and memorials of our fallen comrades and to set an example for peace!
