€29.90*
This motif commemorates a milestone in East German history: the first manned spaceflight involving a GDR citizen. On August 26, 1978, Sigmund Jähn and Soviet cosmonaut Valery Bykovsky launched aboard Soyuz 31 as part of the Intercosmos program to space station Salyut 6. The mission was both a scientific and political statement of East German–Soviet cooperation. The design shows both cosmonauts with a surrounding inscription – a symbol of Cold War-era space history.
